Subject: Re: Oh my aching feet!
I am loving the shoe discussion... Thanks for getting this going Rudy!!! I'm going to shop for some Mephistos when I'm in Paris next month - they sound like something I need in my travel arsenal. I agree that the cost of something like that may seem daunting at first but when you consider how long they last and the comfort of a good shoe it's well worth it. As the friend I'm traveling with for part of the trip says twenty minutes in the wrong shoe can ruin a week of your trip. I'm curious if anyone has tried Merrell? A friend who's a chaplain has some and says all the hospital chaplains wear them. These are folks who are on their feet a lot. Before my first trip to Europe I tried to think of people who walked a lot and asked what they wore - nurses and mailcarriers were the obvious targets - Rockport was mentioned numerous times. I had a reebox tennis shoe - black so it wasn't obnoxious - that I loved... had little air pockets that went from ball to heel... they've stopped making them. My current pair has one more trip in them I think. They'll probably be left behind in France this time... c'est la vie...
