Subject: Budget for meals
Hi and welcome

the price of a meal in Europe can go from cheap to very expensive with all the figures in the middle, as most reastaurants are privately owned and the restaurant chains with their fixed prices are almost unknown. In any case, I usually plan for an amount of about USD 15-20 per meal for each person, excluding breakfast which is often included in hotel rates; this way I can save some day, eating at a counter-service restaurant or fast food, and spend more for a substantial dinner at a fancier place. In Germany the daily menu is always a good choice both for food and price; in Slovenia the restaurants are usually family owned and less expensive. As usual, the best suggestion you can get is eat the local food and don't go looking for your home food, as this is the best way to pay a lot and eat worse (McDonald's is the only exception!)
