Subject: The Southwest in Sept.
Frances West writes about going to the Southwest in Sept. or Oct. We were there this past year, in the Canyon and Monument Country of N. Ariz., S. Utah, and SW Colorado, during the first two weeks of September. The weather was perfect!! Not too hot, only one afternoon thunderstorm. I understand that often it is hotter and that afternoon/evening storms are quite normal most days then. So maybe the last part of Sept. would normally offer cooler days. We did not get into New Mexico--barely had enough time in two weeks to see N. Rim of Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reefs, Escalante, Mesa Verde, Canyon de Chelly. Don't miss a stay at the Valley of the Gods B &B in the Valley of the Gods near Mexican Hat (it's in the hotel list ). What a fantastic experience. I am ready to go back to the SW (and include NM this time). Enjoy! Cheers, Pat
