We just used the Italian rail service last March. We traveled from Rome to
Florence, stayed a few days, then traveled from Florence to Venice and
returned to Rome. The accommodations were fine. One leg of the journey we
sat 4 to a small cabin but the rest of the trip was spent in reclining seats
and it was not first class. I believe the small cabin was between Florence
and Venice and only for a brief ride but the rest was quite comfortable and
enjoyable with even a small snack served and a beverage. We did not spend
much on the ticket and purchased them in advance in the States as was
recommended. We were told the tickets are often sold out so we booked in
advance. Carrol Fiorino
