Subject: Other parts of Britain
We second the comments about the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and North York Moors of England--magnificent beauty, tidy stone villages, heather-covered rolling moors, great pubs, super hiking----we have spent months and months there. Also northern Scotland, esp. Sutherland, is absolutely breath-taking, with a beautiful northern coast and sandy (if cool) beaches with no one on them. Also, don't forget the Hebrides and other islands off the W. and NW of Scotland, Orkney, Shetland, Foula, Fair Isle, etc. We go back repeatedly and always discover new treasures! Cheers, Bill
