|Subject: Sights in Bangkok|
The best season to visit Thailand is from late October to March.
The temperatures are lower(around 30 c) and humidity is only 65-70%.
If you don't mind 35-40 c and more , 100% humidity, a lot of rain
and even floods, the whole year round is ok.
There are many hotels in Bangkok. If you want to stay in walking distance from the Grand Palace and the Wats, I recommend the Royal Hotel: a small, clean, cheap , old 3 stars hotel. We stayed there 4 nights and it was fine. If you like the Silom Road area, (shopping, nightlife, restaurants), also in the old part of Bangkok, try the Manhora, Narai, or the Holiday Inn. The hotels around Sukhumvit Road (the new, modern, commercial part of the city ) are big, western hotels and more expensive. If you want to try the top, The Oriental Hotel or the Shangri-La are the top.(around 250$ per night, which is very high price for Thailand). In the same or a bit lower level are the Royal Orchid Sheraton and The Peninsula Bangkok. They are all on the river bank. The last one (The Peninsula), is a most modern tower with a stunning view of the city. It is placed on the other bank of the river, opposite the Oriental. Always bargain on the price!!! The competition between the hotels is very strong. You will be surprised what discount you can get. (If you want to book it through an agent in Israel, the price for The Oriental is around 350-400$ per night. We got 250$ simply by calling the hotel from Israel, and when we called the hotel while we were in Bangkok and sounded hesitant, we got it for 180$ per night in the Loy- Khratong holiday last year.
