|Subject: Travel to Ireland|
I had a memorable 10 day trip to Ireland (both south and north) in 1989.
In addition to enjoying the wonderful natural sites (Cliffs of Moher, Ring
of Kerry, the Burren, the wild coastline in the northwest in Donegal and
Sligo, Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland), I loved the countryside and
the people. We spent a day in Dublin and I felt like that was just enough
time. I preferred the west and northwest. So one of my recommendations is
to spend at least several evenings in pubs listening to traditional Irish
music and interacting with the locals. Your b&b or hotel proprietor can
direct you to any local place that features traditional music. I am also a
big fan of William Butler Yeats poetry so it was a special trip for me to
see his grave near Ben Bulben in Sligo - Cast a cold eye/On life, on
death./Horseman, pass by!
