Subject: Re: New Member going to France
Welcome Diane - I'm a new member too and really enjoy reading about everyone's experiences. We are lucky enough to have been to France at least once a year for the past 24 years! Last year we visited perhaps our favourite region - the Dordogne/Lot and I would agree with everything Richard says. I suggest that you base yourself self around Sarlat which is central to most of the intersting sites. Gouffre de Padirac is the largest underground cavern system in europe and well worth a visit - but go early! We spent 2 days canoeing/kayaking down the Dordogne which is fabulous for the views and fun if not desperately exciting. We rented a gite via the internet and if you are interested email me privately and I'll give you the details. I would recommend having a gite with a pool especially with the kids! Another idea is to go to one of the campsites in the area. Our kids loved them when they were younger and they make loads of friends and have activities on site - its comfortable camping - we have a mobile home which is great. Anyway I can give you details of companies etc if you want cheers sally, Somerset UK
