I second the advice to look carefully into any student tour group operators--having
dealt with the same operator since 1979 in taking thousands of kids all
over the world, I have seen many other companies come and go. In fact,
the company I deal with took it upon themselves to rescue lots of the
groups (absorbing the cost themselves) stuck in Europe when the company
Tom talked about folded a number of years ago. Before I went with my company,
I had a bank president friend in Boston (their headquarters), so an extensive
check on them through all of his contacts--and thus made a wise choice.
The same advice goes for making payments to cruise lines, to adult tour
operators, to insurance companies, to transporters. Some fail totally
unexpectedly, but often some careful checking on your part can prevent
disasters. Happy travels, Pat in Baltimore
