|Subject: Re: Servas|
I have been a Servas member for 2 years (1996 and 1997) but only as guest.
I have been to Belgium, Holland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania, met several
people and had great experiences. The most important thing is to have
in mind it is NOT a travel agency or a way to be accomodated for free,
but a chance to meet locals and get to know their cultures. It is definitely
necessary to be easy adapting, since you can either find a nice room,
or a piece of floor!
As host, I could not accomodate anyone in my house, but could meet someone staying at some other Roman member and showed them around. That was also nice.
For me, it's been a great experience, and with some of the people I met I am still in touch!
Hope this helps. Ciao Flavio in Rome
