Subject: SERVAS
Mark May Mark May asked about SERVAS (see below)

Mark: We are members of SERVAS and have been for about 10 years. It is a marvelous way to get to know other cultures. We have been guests, not hosts, so far. We're on the road so much. As a member, you get a directory of members in your destination country. Each entry lists age, vocation and interests so you can attempt to get a reasonable pairing of people with the same interests. A few people I know abuse the program in the US, staying with fellow US members when attending meetings just to save $. That's not what the program is all about. You have the option of visiting with people during the day only, or staying in their homes. The directory spells out who is available for what.
