I can recommend heartily taking any suggestions from Amelia Meyer-Hesson.
Last Sept, having never been in the region, we followed so many of her
travelogue's suggestions and found them to be magnificent! Read her journals--you
will be intrigued and delighted.
Staying at the National Park Lodges at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and at Zion
Park and at Bryce Canyon was wonderful; get reservations NOW if you can.
They are all worth the money, esp. at the North Rim---to be right there!
I wouldn't bother with the South Rim in season--it is a zoo.
