Subject: Small ships to Alaska
Dear Pat,

In 1994 we 'did' the inside passage on the Yorktown Clipper. It is a 130 passenger boat with a small library and a naturalist on board. Our ports of call were Juneau, Sitka, Glacier Bay, Haines and Skagway. Tauck Tours reserves quite of few if not all of these cruises. The year we did it, Clipper Cruise Lines and Tauck Tours offered the same price but the Tauck Tour included a rafting trip in Haines, the train ride in Skagway and excursions to the Raptor Rehabilitation Center, St. Michael's Cathedral and a temperate rain forrest in Sitka. The advantage of a smaller ship is that it usually docks in town allowing you to come and go at will while some of the larger ships have to anchor off shore and tender in. We're planning a repeat visit in a few years.
