Subject: TGV to Lyon (and more Paris questions)
Thanks for the suggestions on Lyon via TGV...I should have been more explicit and said that it'd only be a day trip, since we have already paid for our 10 nights in Paris. :( Any further input on that, or should we stay put in Paris?

I'm looking forward to checking out the Bon Appetit issue...and while I'm on that subject, is it necessary to have reservations for dinner every night? I was hoping that we could just happen onto a nice little place during our exploring of the city, instead of trying to find a specific place and be there at a specific time.

Is Mother's Day celebrated in Paris as it is in the U.S.A.? I'm kind of embarrassed to ask! Also, we will be in the city on May 8th, which is VE Day and which I learned today is a national holiday for the French. We'd like to see the water foundation show at Versailles, and it will be running that day, or would we be better off to see it on Sunday (the 6th) crowd-wise?

I hope to be able to post a travel journal worth reading when we return, and thanks in advance.
