Subject: RE: Car Rental in France
We rented a car for travel in Provence from Autoeurope ( http://www.eutoeurope.com ) last year after getting quotes from the usual major car rental companies. They have arrangements with some of the majors and that produces rates which are often lower than those quoted by the majors on the internet. We find Autoeurope very reliable. - As to automatic versus manual, a manual transmission car is often cheaper than an automatic in Europe. - Because of the many narrow streets in the smaller towns and villages in Provence, a small to mid-size car would be preferable. (I remember one case where there was a sign indicating that the street width was 2 meters. Just to be sure that we had enough clearance, we folded the side view mirrors.) Have a good trip.
