We can recommend the Chianti Road from Florence to Siena.
It is Route 222, and is clearly
marked with special signs indicating the Chianti Road. Before you get to
Greve, you might consider a stop-off at Montefioralle (to the West) the home
of the famous Vespucci family and outside of Greve is the Castello
VillaMaggio. The road meanders through the vineyards of the finest Chianti
producing areas with lots of small hill towns. Be sure to make frequent
stops at the Enotecas (winery co-ops) where the locals sell their own
produce. Many of these excellent wines never stray outside their villages.
