|Subject: RE: Mendocino California|
Our favorite thing to do is to rent a house or cottage in or near Mendocino, and we've had great luck with http://www.mendocinovacations.com. They have places in all price ranges, from $675 a week on up. A lot depends on your flexibility season-wise. Off season is MUCH more reasonable. We last rented from them in November, and the weather was just about perfect for sightseeing: coastal fog was at a minimum, the weather was sunny and pleasant (60s to 70s during the day, nights in the 40's). Ideal conditions to make snuggling up in front of a crackling fire in the evenings, with a bottle of the wine you enjoyed at the vineyard in the afternoon, a little piece of heaven on earth!
There are loads of great dining spots in the area, too: Cafe Beaujolais, The Stanford House, Ledford House Inn, MacCallum House, Heritage House Inn, Albion Inn, and more. The Murphy Redwood Grove is like walking in a cathedral. And wineries! We love the little rose-covered Husch Winery, on Hwy 128, and Roederer Vineyards for elegant champagne-type wines. There are lots of others, too, all within an easy drive from Mendocino.
Enjoy! Mary Jo in MPLS
