Subject: Re: Chicago restaurants
Although we have not been there, Gene and Gorgetti's is often rated the best place for steak in Chicago from Chicagoans. If you really like fine food and price is no object, Charlie Trotters is a place to go. We have eaten at Rick Baylesses Mexican restaurant and were very disappointed. There is a Thai restaurant called Arun which is very gormet and the chef has a somewhat set menu although I understand that he will ask about certain preferences. A couple of years ago the prix fixee was $75 per person. All of these restaurants are hard to get into without advance reservation or a lot of help from the concierge. We prefer small ethnic restaurants ourselves!

The Chicago Tribune recently had an insert magazine about restaurants in Chicago and check out Chicago Magazine.
