Subject: Driving in Europe
Hello everyone,

I'd like to share a cute story about driving in Europe. About 30 years ago, I was driving for the first time in Italy, Messina to be exact. I came to a little piazza where a policeman was directing traffic. Unfortunately, I didn't understand that when he was turned a certain way, I was supposed to stop. He pulled me over and I showed him my Int'l Driver's License (which, by the way, in those days didn't come with a picture). He proceeded to tell me that he had family in my home state of Massachusetts. After a short conversation he invited me to have dinner the next evening with his wife and little girl. I saw them several times during my 2 month stay and we remained pen pals for several years. It was a happy ending to a potentially difficult situation.

Again, thanks to all.

Best regards, Joanne
