Hi Ed, Guidebooks are wonderful, but beyond Fodors and Frommers, et al, to whet your appetite I recommend a gorgeous book called The Most Beautiful Villages in Tuscany, by James Bentley and Hugh Palmer, Thames and Hudson Publishers, NY. Not only does it include over 288 photos, it has a section with useful information about maps, hotels, restaurants, market days and festivals. If nothing else, it will illustrate how important it will be to have a car to get around to see even a fraction of the breathtaking hill towns. Good luck and have fun planning! Mary Jo in Minneapolis
