Subject: Bermuda
We just returned from a conference in Bermuda. While the island is still as lovely as ever and the locals are still very gracious, it seems that the smaller hotels are rapidly disappearing and prices in the larger ever increasing ($17 USD for an appetizer). I asked someone why that was. It seems that tourism now accounts for only about 30% of the island's economy while banking and other financial services have skyrocketed. Nevertheless, it is still a fun place to go for a quick getaway. The best deal was an all day bus and ferry pass for $11 USD.
