Subject: Train tickets in Europe
In Italy, it has been my experience that almost any travel agency will issue train tickets AND reservations. In most cases when I did this, the agency did not even charge a premium for the service. Once in the Bologna station, I needed a ticket fast, when the lines in front of the station ticket windows were 20 people deep. I walked into a travel agency right in the station, and they sold me everything on the spot, in minutes. I asked the agent why no one else was doing what I had just done to avoid the lines, and she responded that Italians just weren't accustomed to availing themselves of the convenience.
