Subject: Buenos Aires and Argentina
Hi, John, I agree that you should take radio-taxis or remises while in Buenos Aires. Our Company always call an agency that also works as a tourism one: they´re very gentle and efficient. The name of this agency is TURISMO DEL CARMEN - phone number 4812 3535. They could pick you up in Ezeiza Airport for $ 30 (some additional costs might be applied if they have to wait for you for more than 1/2 hour) + tolls.
>From Ezeiza to downtown Buenos Aires you can also take the shuttle from Manuel Tienda Leon Company ($ 10) that would leave you at your hotel´s door.

I agree with Graziella that 9 de Julio and Av. Córdoba is a very noisy place.

As regards to security issues: the same rules you certainly follow while in Rome, London, New York, etc., apply to Bs.As now. We were not used to be careful with our purses or wallets while walking, driving or taking a bus, but now WE ARE. Also, never carry your ATM card with you if you don´t intend to go to a bank cashier within the next hours, and place your credit cards into an internal pocket of your jacket.

Airlines: don´t count on Aerolíneas Argentinas. LAPA and Southern Winds are OK, and they offer similar tariffs.

La Boca is a place for tourists, I think there are a lot of places in Buenos Aires that deserve tourists´ attention more than it: Avenida de Mayo (one of the main avenues down town), San Telmo, Belgrano, Recoleta, Barrio Norte, Palermo (different barrios = residential areas); museums, theatres, etc.

Should you need any clarification, please advise. Regards,

María Clara in Buenos Aires
