Subject: Re: Backpacking alone around Australia
Hi Jo,

Another option is the backpackers bus, which provides transport, food, lodging, and guided hikes. There are plenty of wonderful places to go in Australia that are not easy or cheap to get to on your own (like the Outback). I took two different trips with Wayward Bus and had a great time. This is not a tour bus, most days involved more hours of hiking and exploring than riding. You stay in hostels or campgrounds, and meals are usually a group affair of making sandwiches or barbequeing. There is competing backpackers bus in Oz that is more of a party bus (however, that may be what you are looking for). Wayward has a nice mix of all ages and quite a few of the people on my trips were single young females from the UK.
