|Subject: RE: 29 days until Italy! Need restaurants!|
Hi, Debbie -
It's been a long time since I've posted anything to the list, so I'm a bit rusty... ;-)
Here are a few of my favourite restaurants in Rome:
Spaghetteria l'Archetto, on Via l'Archetto, not far from the Trevi Fountain. They have 100 different types of pasta to choose from (no exaggeration!), and 30 different types of pizza. Frequented by both tourists AND locals. Closed Mondays.
Nuraghe Sardo, on Viale delle Medaglie d'Oro. Not in downtown Rome, but worth going to. When you sit down, you don't even have to order - they automatically bring you at least 15 different kinds of antipasti, and you can eat as much as you want. Then you can have 3 kinds of pasta. (After that you're too full for anything else!). This is a Sardinian restaurant.
La Bomboniera, on Via Albano. If you like to try different kinds of pasta, this is the place to go to. This one's not downtown either, but it's right near a metro station - Colli Albani. They have something like 30 different kinds of pasta. You don't order - they just bring you a taste of every kind of pasta that they have! Until you tell them to stop.
Il Giardino, near Via Tritone and Piazza Barberini (I think the street it's on is called Via Zuchelli - it's right across from the big Messaggero sign). They have good food and a wide choice of dishes.
And please say hi to Rome for me... :-)
