Subject: Re: RE: Backpacking alone around Australia

Good advice from 'Ziners on backpacking in Oz! I think because of my age, I get overlooked (polite way to say, woman of 60 years is often invisible!), but I've never had a problem in Oz. My kids have taken the Wayward Bus to the Red Center& loved it. Oz Experience may be a more party-oriented but this I only deduce from observation of the busloads up at Cape Tribulation.

Get your hostel card, &you'll be sure to find like-minded travelers in hostels. And as a member of the Commonwealth you can work for short periods Downunder. Any local folk can steer you away from questionable areas; this is a wonderful, friendly place to visit.
