Subject: Barcelona
Hi Michele

We spent some time in Barcelona last September and found it to be an extremely exciting, vibrant &world-class city. I am not sure how much time you have alloted but whatever it is, it will not be enough.

The area that we were most impressed with was Eixample with the greatest collection of Art Nouveau buildings in Europe. Just meandering down the streets, your eyes are assaulted by the most impressive architecture of the modernist movement. And of course, you will learn all about Antoni Gaudi (we lovingly refer to him as Gaudy Gaudi) and how he changed the face of Barcelona. Don't miss his Casa Mila (La Pedrera), Sagrada Familia (either a brilliant vision or a complete hoax - the effect on us was astounding!) and make sure you visit Parc Guell, an extravagant fantasy world complete with mosaic dragon &remarkable rolling bench.

Walk Las Ramblas, explore the Gothic Quarter, dance the Sardana (Catalonia's national dance) in Placa Catedral on Sunday, drink Sangria, eat tapas and enjoy every minute. It doesn't get much better than this.
