Subject: Slovenian Accomodations
Richard, In looking back at some hotel receipts from our 1997 stay in Slovenia we paid about $40 US per night at two different hotels. In Piran we stayed at the Hotel Piran:

which we found acceptable, nothing special but suitable for one night's stay.

In Ljubljana we stayed at the Hotel Tivoli which was very stark. In fact, I think it was described by Lonely Planet as being a socialist workers' hotel. However, it was centrally located (Tivolska 30) and cheap. Tel. +386 61/ 13 36 131, 13 34 054: fax: +386 61/ 30 26 71.

By the way, we accessed Slovenia by ferry from Venice to Portoroz (right next to Piran). And when we left we traveled by train to Zagreb, Croatia then on to Budapest (by train again) and finally hydrofoil up the Danube to Vienna. I mention this just to point out some alternative routes for you.
