Subject: Re: City of Light
Hi, I believe Paris was first called the city of light in 1889, when it hosted the World's Fair. People came from around the word to see the Eiffel Tower, built for the fair, which was lit up by the visiting American, Thomas Edison. Paris was one of the first cities to embrace electrical lighting, and the city was lit up at night during the fair. A miracle in those days.

I am trying to find a direct reference. Mark
