Subject: Capri/Sorrento
Hi Johannes, We walked down to Marina di Puolo, a seafaring village that occupies the small bay sandwiched between the Capo di Sorrento and the Capo di Massa. Really just a brief walk from the center of Sorrento. Once at the marina, I just started chatting with the locals (in English with lots of hand signals and tried as much Latin as I could, though THAT didn't help much), and soon found someone willing to take us out for the day...very reasonable too...about 1/3 of the cost of the tourist boat and about 1000 times more enjoyable. I don't think they let you dive off the tourist boats...we swam in the grottoes, drank chianti in the sun and munched on fresh bread and cheese. Glorious, glorious, glorious.

And thanks for your kind words. I am attracted to Italy not so much for the art as for the food, the natural beauty and the warmth of the people. Mark
