|Subject: Re: Reims or Chartres|
I have not been to Chartres, but have always heard raves about it. I visited Reims less than two years ago and thought it wonderful. The cathedral is very impressive -- the rose window magnificent. It suffered badly in WWII, and you probably know that some of the stained glass windows were eventually replaced with designs by Chagall, a very unusual counterpoint to the original, traditional windows. We were blessed to enjoy an organ concert there -- a lovely bit of serendipity.
We were not there long enough to enjoy tastings at the champagne chateaux, so obviously I need to return.
Thank you for all you encouraging and empathetic correspondence regarding the greatest tragedy America has ever experienced.
