|Subject: Hotel in Urbino|
Last November we stayed for a few days in Urbino at a very charming
Hotel Bonconte Via delle Mura, 28, Urbino (0722) 2463; fax (0722) 4782
I can certainly recommend it. It has a lovely location looking over the valley below from its perch on the side of the city. It is within the old walls and walking distance on lovely Medieval streets of the Ducal Palace and other important sites (it's straight up, however).
We paid L 300.00- about $140, including breakfast for 2, for the very best double on the front of the hotel with a separate sitting room and balcony over the main entrance (you can see it in one of the pictures in the link below) but there are just fine singles available for less than ½ that - in the $75 range. The hotel has a lovely garden in back off the breakfast room, which would be nice in April. Street parking is very easy where the hotel is located.
Urbino is alive with students, pretty much off the main tourist tack and the Ducal Palace will consume almost an entire day to see its wonders.
If you are in the mood to treat yourselves to a fabulous meal, don't miss Vechio Urbino. It is not far from the Bonconte and the food is magnificent.
Here is a link with good pictures of the hotel
