|Subject: Re: New Orleans|
It has been a while since we have been to New Orleans. Be sure to have
beignet at Cafe Du Monde, and coffee with chicory for breakfast, a great
place to watch people. When we were there, the National Parks Service
offered wonderful walking tours of the cemetaries of New Orleans, the Garden
District, the historical areas, and several others. I believe that they are
free and wonderfully done, if they are still available.
Ride the cable car to the end of St. Charles St. There is a wonderful cafe called the Camilla where the staff is dressed up in proper attire but you sit at counters. Wonderful food, especially pecan pie.
The food in New Orleans is wonderful no matter where you go from vendors on the street to the best restaurants. It is,however, not a safe city, so use caution.
Go to preservation hall for music--jazz. I am sure that there are lots of other places as well in New Orleans for music.
