Subject: Hotel vs self-catering
Frances: I figure with the money I save with a self-catering place I can then splurge on a fine meal once in a while. Too, shopping for food, discovering the farmers' markets &coping with different cooking arrangements is part of the fun. And altho it's not for everyone, hosteling provides self-catering in most places; it's a shared kitchen so you enjoy watching wildly differing cooking styles.
