Subject: Norwegian Cruise Lines
Hi Bill and Pat,

I cruised on the NCL Dream a couple of years ago -- from Rome to San Juan, PR -- with calls at Casablanca, Tenerife, Madeira, and then the six-day crossing. It was a lovely ship. It is one of two that NCL had cut across the middle and lengthened by a lot at a shipyard in Germany. (I had never imagined such a thing could be done.) Food was good, service excellent and entertainment quite varied and satisfactory. If big cruise ships are not your thing, you will probably not be enthralled. There were some nice touches, like a very good harpist who played for tea in one of the restaurants, and an explorer/artist, who gave most interesting lectures about his explorations at the Poles and displayed the paintings he did from photos he made on those journeys. But, for the most part, it was your typical cruise experience.

Some friends just cruised with NCL to Alaska in August and loved it. It was a different kind of cruise, of course, but still a large ship, one of their new ones.

Don't know if this will be helpful but we did like the Dream.

Happy sailing. Lou (TX)
