Glad to hear you're coming to Mexico. Sorry I haven't posted this sooner, but I really haven't been accessing my email lately. I hope this is not too late.

I checked with my Mexican colleagues about Colonia Cuauhtemoc. They said it's a good neighbourhood (it's also near the Sheraton Hotel), and although there may be some street theft in that area - Zona Rosa is a very touristy area, and where there are tourists, there is theft - it's a much better area than around the zocalo. The zocalo is NOT safe area.
