Lago deOrta is sensational.
We thought we were booking into Piccolo Hotel Olina, which is right in
the middle of the village, but ended up at Hotel Santa Caterina, which
is their sister hotel,
and which is around a kilometer inland from the village, with no views
of the lake. A modern comfortable hotel, but not an experience, which

There are also individual apartments in the village, however during peak periods they are only available for weekly rental. We plan on returning for a week next July, and staying at the apartment you will find at the following site: http://www.orta.net/cvo/gb_piazza.htm It is on the first floor above the piazza, with views over the trees that fringe the piazza and lake front, out to Isola San Guilio.
Your next best option for just a few days would be at one of the hotels in the heart of the village. Would probably cost a lot more, but worth it if you can get a view of the lake.
