Your comment that you thought pot-au-feu is traditionally made with fish sent me off investigating. Not so. Translated it means pot on the stove; it's a stockpot soup which can be made many ways, most commonly with beef. http://www.ffcook.com/pages/Wquestarch9.htm Pretty darn good comfort food.
