I stayed at the Hotel Alimandi in Rome that is located
about 50 yards from the entrance to the Vatican Museum
entrance. This was a very pleasant hotel one block
away from the Vatican, and what was so unique about the
Hotel Alimandi was that it provided free
transportation directly to the airport by private car
when you are ready to leave. You can easily walk to
the entrance to the Vatican Museum (very early) or to
Vatican City entrance in minutes. The rooms were
pleasant, and they had an open roof balcony.
I enjoyed the quiet squares and the contrast this area
has compared to central Rome. The buses are very
frequent and will take you into the heart of Rome, and
provides a great touring bus experience as well.
Have a wonderful time.
