|Subject: Between Rome and Amalfi|
Terry asked :if anyone has any suggestions for two days between the
Amalfi Coast and Rome?
Terry, we went to Lago Albano, the area called the Castelli Romani, and thought it was great. You could also go to Tivoli or daytrip to Tivoli. A car is essential in this area. It seemed to be a sort of weekend playground for wealthy Romans, but it was fun. There were Porchetta stands everywhere, the topography was nice, Castel Gandolfo had the Pope....... lots of fun things to see, and do. We enjoyed just watching the people at play..... I saw no non-Italian tourists, by the way.
Here is a website or two to explore:
We saw but did not stay in this hotel: http://www.venere.it/it/lazio/castelgandolfo/castelvecchio/hotel.html
If I was ever back in that area, I would stay at the Castel Vecchio hotel, very near the Papal summer palace in Castel Gandolfo.
The door to door drive from our hotel, The Park Villa Grazioli outside Frascati, to the Rome airport, was about 45 minutes.
Hope this helps, Debbie in Pittsburgh
