Hi Pat and Bill --
We have spent many a day walking, romping and antiquing in that area. Popham
Beach and Reid State Park in that area are our 2 favorite Maine Beaches. We
don't go in the summer much because of the tourists, but we do go in the fall
and winter (as we bring our big dog, too!!!) (Dogs are not allowed on the
beaches but in the winter, we see them all over)
Blue Hill is know for its music, too so do check on what's cooking if you plan to be there for the summer. If you're going to drive leisurely, I'd be happy to recommend places (B&B's) along the way from Bath through Camden as well as some restaurants along the way. Also, if you're going to spend the summer, don't forgot to go further north from Blue Hill to take in Mt Desert Island, (Bar Harbor National Park -- It's outstanding!!!), the Schoodic peninsula, Campobello and you must see Eastport -- it's really quirky, fun and it is, I believe, the first town in the USA to see the sunrise each day. We even went further up to Grand Manan Island and the Bay of Fundy -- all worthwhile. Let me know if I can be of help. We adore Maine!!! Regards and Happy New Year to you both!!! It sounds as if you're in for a wonderful summer! Susie Newton, MA |
