Subject: Re: Traveling solo in Italy
I never ran into a single supplement traveling through Italy. I fax'ed hotel reservations from home before I went - sometimes it took an extra fax, since they assumed I was traveling with some one - but the price was usually cheaper for one.

I didn't stay in Venice - I stayed in Padua / Padova. It's a little interesting town - it was my first stop and allowed me to practice my (bad) Italian. It's also a very short train ride to Venice - the train station is right by the boats on the Grand Canal. I had figured two days in Venice - I ended up spending the second day in Padua instead!
