Guidebooks seem to discuss reservations. Here in Toronto I often don't bother reserving. Is it necessary or advisable if it is just for 2 people? Is it the case just for restaurants rather than brasseries?

Second, any opinions of Jack's restaurant reviews? (http://www.jack-travel.com). Don and Linda, I know that you met Jack in Brussels. Did you try any of his Paris suggestions?
