Subject: Itineraries and Travelogues in literature: book recommendations appreciated!
Hi Ziners,

if anyone of you knows a good and well written book about real travel experiences in literature (no guidebooks): please let me know! Years ago, when I first went to Italy, I brought Goethe's Italian Journey with me, which was written in 1786. Goethe is the most famous author in german literature. His itinerary was very helpful for me to look at the country with different eyes. I tried to copy Goethes attitude of openness towards every experience and not to apply my own german standards. This way I learned much more about the country and the people.
