Subject: Re: Southern France memories
And we, as well, have wonderful memories of Carcassonne at almost sunset looking across the vineyards as we were driving in from west to east to that fabulous walled (triple??? - I think) city. We were one of about 5 people wandering around the walls as well as inside at that time, and it was just amazing. It was my 3rd visit and I see something new each time I go.

If you're in the area, a side trip to Limoux, (It's south of the City) with it's costume museum and wonderful masked carnival (weekends in winter) is terrific. There is an old carousel in the town square that still works and it's a fun place to stay if you're visiting the area. I believe it's about 1 hr. from Carcassonne. We stayed at a Logis in the town center which had great food! Limoux also has a terrific Saturday market with fantastic flowers - even in February!
