As others have delved back a couple of decades, then I will too. I
stayed near Lynton and Lynmouth many years ago, and remember them
(just) very fondly. I suspect they might be quite crowded in season
now. Dunster is also lovely - and a little less well-known. Distances
around there are not great, so perhaps where you stay is not so
vital, as you should be able to see everything you want. Personally I
favour Dartmoor over Exmoor - if you were to get a chance to drive
across and stop at Princetown (home of the notorious prison: this is
where the worst of our criminals end up - at least the sane ones), or
Two Bridges I don't think you would regret it.
