Subject: Re: York and Manchester: food and lodging
Manchester restaurants... Kwok Man or Hong Kong in Chinatown. Do NOT go to Woo Sang... we just had a horrible experience... will post in upcoming travelogue. Taurus on Canal Street The Ox on Liverpool Road across from the Museum of Transport. they also do B&B or used to. Moon Under (over?) Water ... J.D.Wetherspoons pub on Deansgate Bella Pasta, on Deansgate There's lots of good curry restaurants on the Curry Mile just on the outskirts near Fallowfield. We also had a nice light lunch in the cafe at the Hatworks Museum in Stockport.

York.. the only place i've eaten is the PunchBowl pub on Stonegate i think. Very old pub. good pub grub. And i've heard Betty's tearoom is a must as well.

Can't help you on lodgings as i've mainly stayed in Manchester with friends. Basic hotel in Salford is the Dolby but it has a really small bathroom and barely adequate shower. Campanile is not bad for basic too, also in or near Salford. There's a new Travelodge in the City center i believe. Reasonable rates. Diane
