Subject: Re: Thanks to Fellow Travelziners
Hi Johannes This is very late but I really wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your post about the group. You write so fluently and evocatively in wonderful English and the pictures you painted with your words have stayed with me.

>>>This group reminds me of a social institution of the 18th and 19th century: the social parlor. At its center there was always an important lady of the society who invited interesting people to get together in her parlor for networking, learning to know each other and to establish important business and scientific contacts. This way social behavior was styled in an enjoyable manner among the Salon members<<<

I love the idea of Linda sitting in her 'salon' inviting all us Ziners to discuss our travels!

I then thought of us all sitting round a campfire as you describe - a great idea for a GTG!! Perhaps in one of the great National Parks in the US, or the hills of Umbria, or near the rivers of southwest France....

You are so right about this group and its strengths. I am really looking forward to meeting fellow Ziners Debbie and Kurt (Pittsburgh) and possibly Joan (Melbourne) in the UK in September. I agree the moderation of this group is excellent and I hope to help keep up these standards in my new moderator role.

The best thing of all is that this group really is the sum of its parts and everyone's contributions help build a community that is committed to helping other travellers and sharing experiences.

Thanks again Johannes (and Lou)
