|Subject: Hotel du Palais Bourbon in the 7th (was Hotels in Paris)|
You just wrote about your experience at the Hotel du Palais du Bourbon in the 7th and the surrounding neighborhood. This is about 2 short blocks from where I lived in Paris. I was very fond of my neighborhood around the intersection of Rue de Grenelle and Rue du Bourgogne. I would watch as the man from the cafe at the corner would take coffee across the street to the fruit and vegetable vendor and they would chat all morning. People seemed to know one another. As you said, it was very civilized. Plus it is only a short walk to some of the top attractions in Paris - the Musee Rodin, the golden dome of Invalides, the Musee d'Orsay and my favorite bakery in Paris, Poujauran at 20 Rue Jean Nicot on the west side of the Esplanade de Invalides.
Aah, such memories.
