I work in the Consular section of the Canadian Embassy in Mexico, where we issue hundreds of passports each month. Amendments to our passports are similar: usually there is a notation on one of the front pages, indicating to see another page, and on that page there is a label that gives the amendment. As far as I know, no one has ever had any problems with it.
On a similar note: the thing that most people do complain about, is the fact that the passports that we issue are NOT machine readable (no passports issued outside of Canada are, because of the cost of the equipment required).
